Vincenzo is one of the most versatile double bass, electric bass & fretless player in the scene, bringing his energy and enthusiasm to a wide variety of projects and collaborations.

 

Vincenzo plays everything from afro and afro-jazz, blues, r&b, rock, ethno, pop, to classical music. He has appeared on many CDs, DVD live and broadcast live o Sanremo Festival, Premio Città di Recanati-Musicultura, RAI TV, MTV, RadioVideo DJ, as well as BBC London Radio.

 

He studied - variously classical & jazz double bass - with Nello Nicotra  at Istituto Musicale ‘Vincenzo Bellini’ Catania, and Rino Zurzolo at private tuition.

Harmony, Composition and Arrangement with Cinzia Gizzi at Conservatorio di Musica ‘Arcangelo Corelli’ Messina.

 

He has performed, recorded and broadcast with many top artists and groups, including Mario Venuti, Patrizia Laquidara, Carmen Consoli, Giovanni Nuti & Alda Merini. He also has performed with Mario Biondi, Alex Britti, Joe Barbieri, Ivan Segreto, and top leading guitarists Andy Timmons, Carl Verheyen, Greg Koch, Robben Ford, Guthrie Govan. As orchestral member  for the ‘Rosa Balistreri tribute – Piazza Università of Catania ‘ Vincenzo played with Ornella Vanoni, Giorgia, Marina Rei, Etta Scollo e Rita Botto.

 

Vincenzo has performed with many of Italian’s top jazz artistes including Sergio Amato, Orazio Maugeri, Carlo Cattano, Camillo Balcone, Alberto Alibrandi, Samyr Guarrera, Pucci Nicosia, Elio Amato, Francesco Branciamore, Rino Cirinnà, Seby Burgio, Carmelo Tartamella.

 

Vincenzo has worked with music producers including Chris Kimsey, Francesco Cameli, Roberto Vernetti, Allan Goldberg, John "Pinaxa" Pischetola, Franco Godi, Carlo Rossi , recording  many Albums for labels such as Sony Music, Sony Bmg, Universal music, Virgin music, Venus, Edel, Wide Sound.

 

Vincenzo has played in the musical The Lion King at Lyceum Theatre – London (2011/12) and performed at all the top festivals in UK (including Colne Blues Festival, Ealing Blues Festival, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, London venue (including The Pheasantry, The Eel Pie Club, The Bedford), top Italian festivals (including Catania Jazz Maraton, Brass Group Palermo, Brass Group Catania, Clusone Jazz festival, Marzamemi Jazz) as well as at Blue Note-Milano, Teatro Strehler-Milano, Teatro degli Arcimboldi, Sergio Amato Jazz club.

 

He likes to go snooping in other artistic fields, so he held small roles in films such as "Ispector Montalbano - La gita a Tindari" and "La fame e la sete" of Antonio Albanese.

 

Vincenzo run a wide variety of co-own projects

 

On 2015 with musicians Davide Oliveri and Fabio Costantino founded the Unfired But Exploded.

 

2003-2013 with musicians Osvaldo Di Dio and Antonio Fusco founded the Portrait en Jazz Méditerranéen, who will become from the 2009 Post Jazz Mistress.

 

2000-2001 with the afro-band (for whom he was MD and bass player) formed by senegalese musicians from griot family  Doudou N'Diaye 'Mbengue, Mor ‘Ngom, Cheikh Oumar Diene, Djamil Thiam.

 

1993-2003 joined Mater Matuta, winner the 1997 edition at Premio Città di Recanati-Musicultura.

 

1998-2001 joined Nakaira.
